Events and the lights switch on
Celebrate the arrival of Christmas in Colchester on Sunday 25th November and revel in a fabulous festive atmosphere to get you in the seasonal spirit.Mark the start of the Christmas shopping season by heading to town, soaking up the festive fun and browsing all your favourite shops, from big name brands to quirky independents. There will be festive entertainment across the town centre with musical and dance acts on the High Street, Sir Isaacs Walk, Eld Lane and Trinity Street. Mingle with stars of Clacton’s Pantomime, Peter Pan, including X Factor runner-up Marcus Collins on a walk around in Eld Lane.
In Culver Square, shoppers can enjoy a variety of performances from 12pm, including Colchester Operatic Society, Rock Choir and Donovan Dance Group, as well as interact with two fabulous Christmas fairy stilt-walkers.
Head to Fenwick for 3.30pm to meet Santa’s reindeer, performers from The Nutcracker, Holly and Ivy stilt-walkers, a live performance snow globe and their magical Christmas showpiece projected onto the front of the store from 4.55pm.
Visitors to Fenwick’s festivities will also get the opportunity to see the ex-TOWIE star turned popstar, Megan McKenna, sing live on stage outside the store at 4.15pm.
Then it’s time for your little ones to get a glimpse of Santa as he makes his way into town on his festive float at 4.30pm and weaves his magic by helping to switch on the town’s Christmas lights with the Mayor of Colchester Cllr Peter Chillingworth and Megan McKenna.

Christmas just wouldn’t be Christmas without the amazing spectacle of Colchester’s Christmas Lights. So expect lots of sparkle and festive cheer as the town’s seasonal celebrations get underway with the Christmas Lights switch-on in the High Street on Sunday 25 November 2018, at 4.30pm.
